Hawking is a very famous scientist. He understands things in
physics that few others on the planet understand. He is way smarter
than I am, no question. He is smart enough to have joined an
academic boycott of Israel and to have refused, in support of the
boycott, to go to Israel for a big conference.
With great respect for the many Jews in Israel who are doing their best to oppose the Israeli government's policies related to Palestine--it is a much more active issue in Israel than we generally see, unless you read the local papers there on line, the Israeli government's policies toward Palestine and Palestinians are clearly evil, and our country's support for the Israeli government is evil also. I say that with great sadness. It's all about U.S./Israeli military dominance and hegemony in the Middle East. Hegemony means theft.
