The effect of the U.S. President telling these four huge lies about
the U.S. economy over and over and over is to increase consumer
confidence. That confidence may not last forever, but it is here
now.
But: We are not having the best job growth ever;
We do not have the lowest unemployment rate ever;
We do not have the fastest economic growth in history; and
We do not have the best wages ever--not by far.
This is according to the actual data, presented here by the
honorable Robert Reich. Just so you know, leaving aside whatever we
as individuals might think about the President.

sent 9/13/2018 something hopeful--many Republicans and Democrats agree--serious opposition to multinational corporate control over labor standards as well as environmental and public health laws
You may recall article links from me over the period from 2013 to
2016 about the big opposition to the the Trans-Pacific Partnership
(TPP) 12-nation proposed agreement. What I recall as the biggest
opposition focus had to do with trying to force state and local
governments to send attorneys to Brussels (Belgium) to uphold state
and local anti-pollution standards.
This article has to do with the same issue being argued in the negotiation of a new NAFTA agreement between the U.S, and Canada. There is a somewhat similar controversial corporate tribunal system in the 1994 North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) between the United States, Mexico and Canada. The big corporations do not want to send attorneys to argue in state and local courts where evidence is much easier to present to a Court. Who knows, a domestic court might even decide that the lives of locals are worth protecting to an extent in one case or another. The infamous ALEC organization is involved on the wrong side, influencing some state officials, but might be losing this one because of being outnumbered.
