So they’re saying, 'OK, well, Congress should wade into this and actually create a new AUMF.' In doing so, what they’re saying is 'We’re just going to justify all the current ongoing operations and just give de facto authorization from Congress to go carry it out for as long as you’d like.'"We have seen time and time again Presidents distracting us from our various major domestic problems with totally unjustifiable* attacks on other counties, getting many people revved up with supposed "patriotism."**
PLEASE communicate with your Senators and tell them that you oppose this new attempt to abdicate their responsibility for supervising wars on other countries. PLEASE ask them to oppose the Kaine/Corker bill for a new general Authorization for the Use of Military Force. You might or might not mention that you think this is particularly important when we have such a stupid President as the one we have now. You might even mention that according to the news it is very doubtful that the Syrian government had done any chemical attacks, that our Congress should have forced the President to wait for a UN investigation and decision before any attacks especially where there was not the slightest threat to us.

* In every case, the various Presidents and the various industry beneficiaries have tried to justify the attacks with huge lies, of course, with the actual facts becoming better known after the fact.
** I do not happen to believe that supporting the doing of evil by our leaders is "patriotic." No, if we want to be patriotic then it is our duty to exert whatever influence we can for our country to do the right thing--and not just by voting once in awhile.

Not that it matters to Mr. T and the industrial beneficiaries--what's a few more dead bodies of innocents on our doorstep--but since I sent that second one, journalist Robert Fisk's report of no chemical attack has appeared in many more publications--without contradiction from what I have seen from a simple search.
