As you may know, the Koch Industries and such types have been making big efforts to SNEAK--and I do mean sneak--a huge international treaty that involves you and me and every American past us--getting "us" to sign the thing having no clue what is in it. It will HURT US. I am not asking you to trust me, trust the HONEST experts, I mean the people who have not yet been caught a thousand times lying, just plain twisting easily checked facts upside down. That's the Koch brothers and their ilk. You've got that, right???. With me this is not about political parties or viewpoints at all--well except for the viewpoint that it is good to try to stay on solid ground and not get suckered by liars of any ilk. One of the BIGGEST lies is that joining the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement will increase the number of jobs for Americans. As you may recall has been pointed out numerous times--and Senator Elizabeth Warren is pointing it out again--"jobs for Americans" is what was promised for the so-called North American Free Trade Agreement as it was being pushed through by global business leaders in 1990 to 1993. They were lying then just as they are lying now. It was not about jobs for Americans at all. America steadily lost jobs following NAFTA's 1994 implementation, but that too was good for big business.
A different problem, at least as HUGE, I would say, is the concept of global (international) businesses centered in various parts of the world suing in some new international court somewhere to settle "disputes" with local communities and states in the United States as well as in other places. By "disputes," I refer to such things as whether the net neutrality that we have so far managed to keep in the United States through many years of struggle interferes too much with global businesses centered in various parts of the world, and whether or not your wanting to preserve what's left of your land and your drinking water interferes too much with global business interests. Yes really. Are we ready to lose everything?
You know who Senator Elizabeth Warren is, the mother of all consumer advocates these days.* I hope you do know by now that when Elizabeth Warren speaks, she has hard facts and is NOT blowing smoke out her butt.

P.P.S. You can see about the one I mentioned that we won today here, Comcast calling off the proposed Comcast/Time Warner Cable merger due to massive opposition. [LINK]. It's not a tiny victory. Many or most of the trapped customers that Comcast has already hate it. One big issue has been Comcast's decisions to make certain sites off limits to its customers rather than have the customers decide where they want to go on the Internet. Then comes the prices. This is an anti-monopoly victory of the sort we need to be able to win from time to time--another potential big concern with the TPP.
