Four hundred (400) events in 37 countries including a massive
march in Washington, D.C.
There is no mention of a lot of Trump-supporting right-wing
fundamentalist creationists showing up but hey, who knows.
I have reached a tentative operating conclusion just for myself
that getting the earth back to where it was is probably not going
to happen. It looks as though it is just going to be getting
worse, is how it looks to me to be honest.
But: I do know, first of all, that prolonging your access
and your children's access to air that is healthy for you and them
to breath and to water that is healthy for you and them to
drink--outdoors even--goes hand in hand with working hand
in hand with those those who are working to reverse planetary
heating as if they really think that possible. Maintaining some
healthy air and some healthy water for the shorter term is a
side-benefit of working with them.
So no, I do not think that you would be being an idiot if you went
to Washington to be there and visible to the bankers and
politicians on April 22, 2017 even though I myself just cannot do
that sort of thing anymore physically. You would be helping to
threaten some of their precious seats. They know that 2018 is not
that far away.

If you are looking for a second highly respected scientist's
findings after having heard Guy McPherson's highly respected
findings the other day,* there is this dated March 18, 2014 in the
venerable popular Scientific American. I say this is
optional because if you really "got" Guy McPherson then this seems
close enough that what is new here, and there are some new things,
might not make a huge difference to you. The article sounds very
scientific to this particular non-scientist. However, by working
hard and following him step by step, I believe I was able to follow
along quite well enough with what he said.

You may remember the name Michael Mann. sent

opinion on climate change You are about to learn what I just
learned, that one of the best known and respected climate scientists
has been subjected to at least one huge attack upon on his personal
integrity. I hate this. I am all for freedom of speech, but I am
in favor of this court case proceeding to allow a penalty for libel
in this case. I do not see a need for any expansion of the law of
libel such as whatever it is that Donald Trump might have in mind
about that. At least some man-made planetary heating denialists are
plain ridiculous, even more ridiculous than some others.

2. As Southwest Burns, Climate Scientists Warn: You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet You know that May 2016 was the 13th month in a row of record high worldwide temperatures, right? So I wonder whether you might be thinking of how you and your family might be able to switch to alternative energy sources, like geothermal and solar while cutting back on investments in the fossil fuels industries. "'If we continue with business-as-usual burning of fossil fuels, by mid-century what we think of as extreme summer heat today will become a typical summer day,' [Michael Mann] said."
3. Pools of Waste: Landmark Analysis Exposes Factory Farming Filth: The analysis makes clear: 'Animal feeding operations are degrading the quality of life for hundreds of thousands of rural residents [in North Carolina]' They are endangering health in communities and messing up the waterways.
4. Senate Rejects "Hatchet to Americans' Privacy"—But Threat Remains America is supposed to be about freedom bigtime, right? The fight is not over.

A friend of mine perpetually complains about scientists for not
publishing instant solutions for the problems they find out about.
Well this has the most realistic suggestion solution for "solving"
the climate disaster problem: "emergency contraction." So I hope he
will be happy with this. You may not think it's actually realistic,
but it seems to be the most hopeful solution. I would like to think that you will read it
very slowly and very carefully for maximum benefit--benefit meaning
enhanced ability to plan for yourself and those you love.
